About The Vanishing of Ethan Carter
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is an original adventure game created by a team from the Warsaw studio The Astronauts.
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter offers a vast, open world, designed for casual and unhurried exploration. It is an important (though non-obligatory) part of the game, rewarding the player with additional hints on the subject of the investigation and the overall background of the story. The game is characterized by a large dose of non-linearity – we can go where we want and we do not have to get involved in unraveling all the puzzles that the creators place on our way. It is worth bearing in mind that although the Red Creek valley is picturesque, we are dealing here with a rather somber place, and the adventure is accompanied by a dark atmosphere, which can often make the player creep on the back. Nevertheless, the hero can not be killed in the course of the game, so you do not have to worry about any dangers.
When it comes to adventure elements (mainly related to solving murder cases), a lot of original solutions have been used here. When we encounter a significant piece of the puzzle, we do not hear the voice of the protagonist explaining what we found, but we can see individual key words popping up on the screen, representing the detective’s way of thinking – for example: “fresh, animal, clean earth, a few days, accident” to a blood stain. The aforementioned supernatural talent of the protagonist also helps. Paul Prospero, among others, communicates with the deceased, watches visions, and goes through portals, behind which he sees alternative or past versions of reality. In this way, we get help, for example, in finding things needed to explain puzzles. When we finish collecting evidence, we recreate the chronological course of events, numbering the frozen scenes, shown in the game world.back to menu ↑
