About Black Mesa
Black Mesa is a proprietary modification by Carlos Montero and over 40 members of the Black Mesa Modification Team, which is a refreshed version of the Half-Life game from the Valve Software studio from 1998. Works on the title lasted from 2004. In spite of many adversities, they came to an end in September 2012.
The game faithfully reproduces the reality of the title from 1998. Play as Dr. Gordon Freeman, an employee of the Black Mesa secret research complex. After a tragic experiment, he must face the hordes of aliens who came to the center from the world of Xen, as well as the American army, trying to eliminate the threat and cover up all evidence of illegal activities, eliminating survivors of the disaster.
The team led by Carlos Montero made sure that Black Mesa used the full capabilities of Source Engine. The project did not use a piece of the original Half-Life code. As a result, two thousand models, five thousand textures, over two thousand sound effects were created, as well as new recordings of six and a half thousand dialog lines. The authors used the capabilities of the Source physical engine as well as rendering options using multi-core processors.
Thanks to this refreshed version of the adventures of Gordon Freeman, we can once again roam the corridors of the Black Mesa center, enjoying the eyes with advanced graphic effects and new animations of the characters’ faces. The fight with strangers and special forces is accompanied by dynamic music, composed from scratch by Joel Nielsen.back to menu ↑
