Abzu is the debut work of the independent studio Giant Squids founded by one of the veterans of the electronic game industry, Matt Nava.
Abzu does not have a plot clearly outlined by the authors. Exploring the world presented, the player learns the history of a lost civilization thanks to the frescos found in the undersea ruins and interprets the events taking place on the screen – there are no dialogues in the game, there is also no traditional narrative. During the game there is also residual interaction with the inhabitants of the depths, such as various species of fish, whales and squid.
In Abzu, our task is to penetrate the sea depths, so the developers put a lot of emphasis on the diver’s animation, that is our protagonist, and convenient control, which except the ability to operate the direction of swimming and camera rotation (using analog pads) is operated only with three buttons – one responsible for the movement itself, the second for all interactions taking place at the contextual and third levels, for temporary, three-step acceleration. A small part of the game also allows you to leave the aquatic environment. In Abzu, as in the above-mentioned Journey – Journey game, you can not be defeated, and the only challenge to some extent is to get all the Achievements / Trophies that the creators of the program have prepared.back to menu ↑
